Here at Cowell Elementary, we provide a friendly, positive learning environment for students from Early Childhood Education through fifth grade.

We are a respectful community that fosters excitement for learning and maintains high expectations for everyone who walks through our doors. Our focus is on building the social, emotional, and academic strengths necessary for our students to thrive as scholars and engaged citizens. Our instructional and school culture supports are consistent across the school and delivered by an excellent teaching staff.

Cowell Elementary values and supports bilingual, biliterate learners through the Transitional Native Language Instruction (TNLI) model. This approach allows English learners to begin their studies in their native language, gradually transitioning to English proficiency throughout their elementary years.

We are committed to ensuring every student excels. We utilize data-driven reading interventions and differentiated instruction to meet the individual needs of every student, accelerating learning for high performers and providing support for those facing challenges.

In partnership with Discovery Link, we offer enriching after-school programming opportunities. Our dedicated team engages in ongoing professional development focused on language, literacy, math, and social-emotional learning to better meet our learners’ needs.

We also value technology as a vital learning tool. Each grade level has access to Chromebook carts, and in our intermediate grades, we provide enough Chromebooks for every student each day. Additionally, we offer a variety of computers, iPads, and other resources to support our students as 21st-century learners.
