Since its beginning in 2007, DPS has used the Call for New Quality Schools process to approve applications for district-run traditional or district-run innovation schools and charter schools.
Decisions to approve and open schools in DPS are grounded in DPS Board Policies LBD and FAP, Colorado State Statute through the Charter Schools Act, and state and national best practice (including Colorado State Board of Education and the National Association of Charter School Authorizers).
