Parent Information on Innovation Renewal

This year, 49 schools will be engaging in innovation renewal. These schools complete an innovation application to describe flexibilities that will support student academic growth and performance. Some of these flexibilities include more options for schools when creating a school year calendar, having different governance bodies with additional duties, and budgeting differently to afford more services for students.

School staff work together in different ways to complete the innovation application, and some applications will include more flexibilities than others. Teachers, school administration, and a school’s School Accountability Committee (which has a different name at most innovation schools and includes parent and community members) must vote to approve the completed application.

Contact your school’s principal for more information about how you can give feedback about a school’s innovation application.
